I actually built a Theremin once, as a science project, back in Michigan in my early teens. Truth to tell, most of the work was done by my dad, with plans found in an electronics magazine. The thing was encrusted with vacuum tubes, and the antennae were fashioned from coat hangers. But it worked, by golly, and made proper Thereminian noises.
